Nothing beats that feeling on a Sunday when you finally get to sit down and binge out on a massive family meal involving meat, roast potatoes and vegetables, and of course, not forgetting the essential Yorkshire puddings. It should come as little surprise considering that this is the nation’s favourite meal that there is an abundance of places to enjoy a Sunday dinner in Birmingham. After all, why spend your whole day preparing the meal when you can just go one of these fine restaurants and enjoy a beautiful family day out?
Hotel du Vin
If your ideal lunch revolves around you struggling to get out of your seat once you have finished, then this would be the ideal place for you. Depending on how hungry you are you can chose between 2 or 3 courses. 2 courses costs £29.95 per person and 3 courses costs just £34.95.
For appetisers you can help yourself to their French Market Table which has foods like seafood and cured meats. Following this meal, you can choose between their Roast Du Vin or a dish from their Plat Principaux which includes dishes like their Spiced Vegetable and Chickpea Casserole or the HDV Classic Burger. Finally comes dessert where there are 7 sweet treats to choose from such as their Apple and Blackberry Crumble or their Black Forest Chocolate Mousse. This is the perfect spot for you if you’re looking for a fancier meal with good wine opposed to a quick meal.

The Old Crown
Nothing beats a pub lunch; especially a Sunday roast in a pub. It is the perfect way to spend your Sunday, and the Old Crown in Digbeth is the perfect place to spend your afternoon. This is one of my personal favourite spots in the city, and that is mainly down to their divine parsnips and beautiful homemade Yorkshire puddings. There is also a wide range of meats available, and plenty of vegetarian options. It is a must visit!

Orelle
After being invited for Sunday Lunch at Orelle we can happily say it is one of our personal favourite spots for that luscious Sunday Roast we all know and love. This modern French restaurant is located on the 24th floor with beautiful panoramic views of the whole of Birmingham. Not only are the views stunning but so is their food. The Sunday Lunch menu has some great dishes on offer such as their Surlonge rôtie, Couronne de poulet rôti, and their Veggie Roast which can be specially requested if you are veggie or vegan. The restaurant is amazing at accommodating for food allergies and dietary requirements they will do their upmost to ensure you have the perfect meal for you.
103 Colmore Row, Birmingham B3 3AG
The Red Lion
Located in the Jewellery Quarter, you will find one of the best Sunday lunches in the entire city. The pub goes above and beyond every Sunday of the year to ensure that their Sunday dinner is the best around, and they succeed every week. You can enjoy a mixture of meats, and be sure to pay for the cauliflower cheese and pigs in blankets sides- you will not regret it!
95 Warstone Ln, Birmingham B18 6NG
The Plough
This is another one of my personal favourites in the entire city. Although it is a little pricey at £22.50 it is well worth the extra couple of quid. You should be sure to get in here early to ensure that you don’t get the ultimate heartbreak of them running out of meat. The beef is cooked depending on your personal preference, and the homemade gravy leaves you demanding for the recipe. It is also a perfect option for those with dietary requirements as they have gluten-free roasts.
21 High St, Harborne, Birmingham B17 9NT
Juju’s Café
Here at Ju Ju’s Sunday Lunch is served every Sunday from 1 pm to 4:30 pm and they claim that they are the “queen” of a proper roast. Located just behind Brindley Place is this cool restaurant. The portions are enormous, and the service is so friendly that you will feel that you’re actually at a friend’s house. It is hugely encouraged to book an early table as they run out of meat fairly early due to demand.
Watermarque, Canal Square, 100 Browning St, Birmingham B16 8EH
The Wolf
If you’re looking for the best value in your Sunday lunch, then look no further than The Wolf. The portions are enough to put you in a food coma. Their roasts start at £17 and come with seasoned roasties, seasonal roots, and red cabbage & kale. You should also look at the side dishes; with an abundance of options including their Cauliflower and Broccoli Cheese.
2-10 Constitution Hill, Birmingham B19 3LY
The Fighting Cocks
The Fighting Cocks is a wonderful 1800s pub on the corner of Alcester Road in Moseley. There’s a beer garden out the back, and enough space inside to bring all your friends and family for dinner. The restaurant is very warm and inviting in both style and atmosphere making it the perfect environment for a roast. It really is a classic British pub, and so of course it serves a classic British roast. You’ll have the choice between beef, chicken, pork belly, or a nut roast, and every roast is served with some thyme-roasted potatoes, buttered savoy cabbage, leeks, peas, roasted veg, and of course a good ol’ Yorkshire pudding. You can’t get much better than that.
1 St Mary’s Row, Moseley, Birmingham B13 8HW
Saint Paul’s House
With a curated cocktail menu, it’s a good thing you’ll be filling up on potatoes and gravy! For your roast, there’s a choice between the classic beef, pork, and chicken, and if you’re veggie theres a vegetable wellington option which sounds divine. All of the roasts are served with roast potatoes, seasonal vegetables, homemade Yorkshire pudding, and plenty of gravy.
15-20 St Paul’s Square, Birmingham B3 1QU
The Rainbow
The Rainbow pub has been restored from an aging relic of Birmingham history into an alternative nightspot-come-restaurant that has been shot into the modern day. There’s a courtyard out back for some al fresco dining, and multiple bars. The food is provided by BA-HA, a fully vegan dining company. So if you’re looking for an animal-free roast, you’ve come to the right place. The roast is available from 12 pm to 8 pm every Sunday and is served with mash, roasties, homemade stuffing, vegetables, gravy, and of course a vegan yorkie.
