The Ivy Birmingham – Temple Row: Dining and Expansion

We love Brum and have been scouring our fine city once again as Birmingham is full of fantastic places to eat. Now if you are a regular reader you will know we have uncovered some of the city’s most treasured hidden gems over the years, especially when it comes to bars and restaurants. Today though we are focusing on one of the city’s major stalwarts, The Ivy Birmingham located on Temple Row.

What The Ivy Birmingham Has To Offer

The Ivy Birmingham located at Temple Row offers all-day dining with modern brasserie classics, Asian-inspired cuisine, and vegan and vegetarian options. Overlooking St. Philip’s Cathedral, the restaurant provides a luxurious escape from the city’s bustle.

The Archer Room, a private dining space on the first floor, accommodates 20 guests at one long table or 40 for drinks and canapés. It is available daily for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, making it suitable for corporate events, wedding receptions, and private parties. The room features vintage prints, local artwork, dark timber flooring, and Art-Deco interiors. A dedicated events manager is available to assist with arrangements.

Afternoon Tea is also a huge hit at The Ivy Birmingham. This delightful offering is served on a three-tier stand with fruit scones, finger sandwiches, and sweet treats, accompanied by tea or coffee. Guests can enhance the experience with a glass of Champagne.

The Ivy Birmingham also has some fantastic deals for customers. If you or the family are looking for a lovely meal in an inspiring setting then look no further. The Sunday Steak Supper for £19.95 is an absolute bargain, featuring a grilled minute steak with peppercorn sauce served with a choice of thick-cut chips or green beans. The meal is paired with a glass of Côtes du Rhône from Southern Rhône or Picpoul de Pinet from Languedoc, both from the 2023 vintage. This Sunday dining experience combines quality cuisine with a relaxed atmosphere in the heart of Birmingham.

Business Developments

With the popularity of The Ivy brand growing astronomically over the last few years, it’s unsurprising that it has now drawn the attention of big-money investors. The Ivy has many locations across the United Kingdom and further afield too, with the Ivy Birmingham being one of the company’s major assets. In September of this year, the rumours of the sale of the company turned into a concrete proposal.

Richard Caring, owner of The Ivy Collection, is finalising a deal to sell the restaurant group to London-based Si Advisers. The sale, valued at around £1 billion, will not include other restaurants such as Scott’s, Sexy Fish, and J Sheekey or private clubs like Annabel’s.

As we mentioned earlier The Ivy Collection has had some significant growth over the last few years. As well as its expansion across major cities in the UK and Ireland, it has also had success with the recent growth in The Ivy Asia brand. Troia (UK) Restaurants, the parent company, reported a turnover of nearly £303 million and earnings of £54.8 million for the year ending January 2023. The Ivy Birmingham is a fantastic place to grab some food and it looks like it has an exciting future ahead too with these major investments in the brand planned in the new year.
