Music Festivals Summer 2022 In Birmingham

A huge summer in Birmingham is just around the corner, and one of the most enjoyable ways to experience the summer in the Second City is by attending one of the huge number of music festivals that will be staged.

It will signal a return to life as normal for millions of music fanatics, as festivals will once again be on the calendar with attendances back to normal for the first time since the lifting of COVID-19 safety measures across the United Kingdom. But, what are some of the unmissable music festivals taking place around Birmingham this year?

MADE Festival

  • Date: Saturday, July 30th 2022
  • Where: Dunstall Park, Wolverhampton

MADE Festival is expected to be one of the most popular taking place in Birmingham this summer, and will be hosted at Dunstall Park in Wolverhampton on July 30th 2022. It is one of the biggest urban dance music festivals on the calendar, which attracts some of the biggest acts in house, garage, grime and D&B. MADE Festival was first introduced to fans in 2014 and has taken place across the city throughout its history. Organisers have often been dedicated to ensuring the best possible weekend for the fans, and that ensured that it was one of the few festivals that still took place in 2021.

As well as the excellent music, MADE also has a number of the finest street food vendors in the second city, and this year’s event promises to be one of the most exciting in recent years. The MADE Stage will be headlined by AJ Tracey, with other stars set to be appearing including Ms Banks, Bru-C, and Vital Powers. As well as the main stage, there are also musical performances on the Weird & Wonderful, Weird Science, Afta Dark, and Police Rave Unit Stages.

The Legends Festival

The Legends Festival is another of the most popular dates in the diary for music lovers, as it celebrates all the timeless hits that have been the soundtracks to our lives throughout generations. This tribute act festival is the perfect weekend for all the family, with guests encouraged to bring their own picnics across the two-day festival. Some of the world’s best tribute acts will be playing at the War Memorial Park in Coventry this year, which means that all those in attendance will be singing their lungs out throughout the weekend.

The first day of the two-day festival includes Ben as Michael Jackson, who is headlining, while there are also tribute bands for Queen, Pink, and the Spice Girls. Six tribute bands make up the Saturday action, which includes Jimmy Love at Elton John, and Nya King as Whitney Houston. There are also tribute bands for Robbie Williams, The Beatles, and Phil Collins also playing on the Saturday. A weekend pass for both days begins from £45, with tier three tickets on sale soon, starting from £65.

BBC Radio 1 Big Weekend

  • Date: Friday May 27th-Sunday May 29th 2022

Some of the world’s biggest acts will descend on War Memorial Park in late May, as BBC Radio 1 hosts their iconic Big Weekend Festival in Coventry. The event has been staged annually since 2000, and has been staged in various locations across the United Kingdom. This year’s event will be one of the most exciting in recent years, as it returns to its traditional format after a two-year break. It will be the second time in four years that it has been staged in Coventry, and it will be the third time in the event’s history that the Big Weekend has taken place in the West Midlands.

Some of the biggest stars on the planet will be playing on the Main Stage across the weekend. Ed Sheeran, Calvin Harris, and Aitch are the big names headlining the event on Saturday. Meanwhile, Harry Styles, Becky Hill, and Dermot Kennedy will all be playing the main stage on Sunday. Furthermore, there will also be big names playing on the Future Sounds Stage throughout the weekend, including Sam Fender and KSI on the Saturday, and Foals and Griff on Sunday. Disclosure will headline the stage on Friday. There will also be some incredible new talent on show on the BBC Music Introducing Stage throughout the weekend. There are few festivals with as many big names as the Radio 1 Big Weekend this year.
