Ideas for a Night Out in Birmingham

0

Commonly referred to as the United Kingdom’s ‘Second City’, Birmingham often gets overlooked when people in the rest of the country are considering where they can go for a great night out. London and Manchester tend to grab plenty of attention as the main cities to visit, but the same is undoubtedly true of Birmingham.

The Midlands city is packed with a ton of exciting entertainment attractions, each of which rival what other cities around the UK have available. With that in mind, read on as we take a closer look at what Birmingham has to offer, starting with a place which comes to life in spectacular fashion at night.

Broad Street

Broad Street is a long thoroughfare located in the heart of Birmingham which is packed with clubs, bars, restaurants and other entertainment activities.

These include top-class casinos, which offer a vast array of popular games such as roulette, blackjack, poker, baccarat, craps, slots and many more. The top venues also feature luxurious bars, where visitors can also play UK casinos online while enjoying some of the finest cocktails in the city.

Once you have had your fill of the best casino games, you can head off down Broad Street to find some of the top Indian restaurants in Birmingham.

The Mailbox

The Mailbox was once the central post office in Birmingham, but now features top-class restaurants, fashion boutiques and the BBC television studios. There are also around 20 different venues serving a wide range of cuisines from around the world, making this the perfect place to visit if you love sampling food.

If you want something which offers a more chilled vibe, check out Aluna or Bar Epernay – both of which offer stunning views over one of the city centre canals. With hotels and a boutique cinema also on site, The Mailbox is the ideal place to base yourself on your next visit to Birmingham.

Custard Factory

Located in Birmingham’s coolest neighbourhood, the Custard Factory occupies 15 acres of lovingly restored Victorian factories and warehouses, which are a legacy from the city’s famed industrial past. Top attractions include the Digbeth Dining Club – a multi-award-winning venue offering some of the best food and drink options you will find anywhere in the city.

The Custard Factory is also home to numerous other excellent bars and restaurants, while its quirky shopping options put mundane high street outlets to shame. With Digbeth’s vibrant nightlife on the doorstep, the Custard Factory is just one of a plethora of night out options in this area of the city.

Muthers Studio

While London, Manchester and Sheffield are among the UK cities most famed for their music scenes, Birmingham also boasts a ton of venues worth visiting.

One of the best of the bunch is Muthers Studio, which has built up a well-deserved reputation as being the best place to visit if you want to catch the ‘next big thing’ in music from the city.

The venue has become a hub for a burgeoning wave of new talented bands from Birmingham and the Midlands, many of which have been making their mark on the national circuit. These include Overpass, who have been tipped to achieve big things after successfully supporting Wrexham indie band The Royston Club on their most recent tour.

The Arcadian

Located in the Southside district of the city, The Arcadian is a trendy courtyard packed with pubs, restaurants, cocktail bars and other popular entertainment venues. It is home to the Glee Club – a legendary comedy venue which has welcomed some of the most iconic names in the business since first opening its doors in the 1990s.

These include Jack Dee, Lee Evans and Michael McIntyre, who have all used the club to test out new material before embarking on national arena tours.

The Glee Club is a superb place to visit during December, with the venue running Christmas Comedy Specials and an after-party event to keep celebrations going into the early hours.

Brindley Place

In a place more noted for its industrial connections, Brindley Place serves as an oasis where the city and countryside combine to create a truly unique attraction.

Situated alongside one of the city’s canals and with beautiful tree-lined squares, it is one of the most picturesque areas you will find in Birmingham. Brindley Place is located close to the Utilita Arena Birmingham and the International Convention Centre, making it the perfect place to meet for pre-event drinks.

Many of the bars and restaurants are open until late over the weekend, meaning you can head back there afterwards to continue your night out.
