Grease The Musical

If you’re looking for the perfect musical event, but with a fresh twist on a classic then look no further than Grease The Musical. The show features all the music from the original film that captivated millions around the globe, but there is a fresh take on the tail by this energetic, talented and passionate cast. Strictly Come Dancing’s Ore Oduba joins the cast for selected dates, while Peter Andre plays the Teen Angel in this instant classic. You will be singing along with every classic hit at this show, and tickets only cost £16.
West Side Story
Dates: 29th- 31st August
The centrepiece of the 120th birthday celebrations at the Hippodrome sees a reimagined take on the classic. The production is presented by home-grown talent and is a fresh and dynamic take on one of the most iconic musicals of all time. The cast was assembled following an audition process featuring over 1,000 highly talented Brummies, and the show will get you on your feet and proud to be from the local area. Tickets are only £15, but it is quickly selling out, so be sure to get your tickets now to avoid the disappointment of missing out on this monumental occasion.
On Your Feet!
Dates: 3rd-7th September
Eagle-eyed viewers of Britain’s Got Talent would have enjoyed a snippet of this show during the live semi-finals, but now you can take in everything that is wonderful with this international smash-hit when it finally comes to the city. The production by Gloria and Emilio Estefan following the real-life story of their love, from its origins in Cuba to Miami and then onto a global stage. The show features hits such as ‘Get on your Feet’, ‘Rhythm is Gonna Get You’ and ‘Conga’. The show is directed by Tony Award winner Jerry Mitchell and is a must-see for all show-goers that love to be on their feet for the duration of their evening out.
Matthew Bourne’s Romeo and Juliet
Dates: 10th-14th September
This timeless tale has been retold throughout generations, but Matthew Bourne’s take of the story is one of the very best that you can expect to see. The ballet showpiece perfectly shows the love that the two lead characters have and how far they are willing to go to be together. The New Adventures company are joined with the best local talent from the West Midlands to bring this show to life, and under the direction and choreography of Bourne, it will be a show that you will remember forever.
Josh Widdicombe
Date: 13th October
One of the most respected comedians on the circuit returns to the Hippodrome as part of the Birmingham Comedy Festival, and it is a must-see for all those people that are looking to belly-laugh their way through the evening. Widdicombe has become a stable on Friday night television after appearing on The Last Leg on Channel 4. People across the country love his witty humour, and his set will see him approach topics such as theme parks, pesto and advent calendars. Tickets cost £21 and will have to be brought in advance.
