Not many dramas on television can do a cliffhanger like Peaky Blinders. That is one of the many reasons why the show has been beloved by fans and experts alike. The multi-award-winning BBC drama is set to return for one final season on our television screens, before bowing out with a feature-length movie at some point down the line.
However, before we can even begin to think about the film, we first need to try and get answers to all our burning questions from series 5. But, could some fan theories turn out to be true in the upcoming series?
Aberama Gold Is Still Alive
We must admit that this theory is a little far fetched given that we saw the Billy Boys slash through Aberama Gold’s body in one of the closing scenes of the most recent series. However, it wouldn’t be the first time that the drama has brought a character back from the dead.
It is a tactic that Tommy Shelby has utilized throughout his leadership of the gang, with Arthur Shelby’s grand return in series four still being one of the standout moments of the show. Even Alfie Solomon returned from the dead in series five, which means that we couldn’t put it past the writers bring back Gold to play a huge role in the downfall of the Billy Boys.
Oswald Mosley Knew Of Tommy’s Betrayal
It was hardly surprising that Tommy was counting down the days until he could turn on Oswald Mosley. The controversial MP stands for everything against Tommy and his party, especially when it comes to the racial garbage that comes out of Mosley’s mouth. The ending scenes of the most recent season focused on Tommy’s plan to end Mosley’s reign of terror, but it spectacularly backfired.
It does beg the question of whether the radical politician was told about the plan, or whether he just knew Tommy was going to make a move so he brought the Billy Boys for back up. Fans will be hoping that we don’t have to wait long to find out just how Mosley knew of the Peaky Blinders plan.
Michael Is A Traitor
Tommy’s recurring black cat dream means that there is a traitor within the gang. The question of who the traitor could be has been widely discussed by Peaky Blinders fans. But, the common answer is always Michael. He tried to overthrow Tommy in the final episode of season five with a questionable stance of streamlining the company. That attempt was quickly batted away, before Gina admitted that ‘Plan B’ would be needed.
What Plan B is could be anyone’s guess, but it’s likely that it had nothing to do with the Mosley assassination attempt. It will be fascinating to see what Michael does next. There could be a slight chance that he rejoins the Peaky Blinders, given the struggle that they are in, especially if Polly is written out of the show.
