One of the best food cuisines in the world is Mexican. However, those of us that live in Birmingham won’t need to dig out our passports to have a meal that you would typically only be able to get in Cancun, as there are a vast normal of excellent Mexican restaurants in the second city. Below, we will go through some of the most popular available, and where they can be found.
Bodega Cantina
Few Mexican restaurants in the city can hold a candle to Bodega Cantina. A dining in option is our preferred option, but meals can also be delivered and collected. Happy Hours are available between Tuesday and Saturday, with two cocktails for £9 available between noon and 7:30 PM. Meanwhile, Happy Hour lasts all day on Sunday.
The food menu is stacked with choices, which makes it one of the best Mexican restaurants in Birmingham. The street food is our favourite, with burritos, enchiladas and quesadillas all available. The Dr Pepper marinated pork nachos are also a must. Those looking for a more filling main course shouldn’t look past the Mexican Pambazo hot dog, which is one of the best meals available anywhere in the city.

A La Mexicana Authentic Mexican Food
A more authentic Mexican taste can’t be found anywhere in the city than A La Mexicana Authentic Mexican Food. This establishment thrives with the authentic flavour that visitors desire when attending a Mexican restaurant, with all the regular favourites available. Quesadillas are high up on the agenda when it comes to our favourites, as you can select from a range of filling options for just £10.
Enchiladas are also an excellent option for those visiting this excellent restaurant, while other favourites such as Tacos and Burritos can also be found. The latter is served with rice or beans, and salad, as well as your selection of steak, pork, chorizo, ham and vegetables. Of course, fajitas are also available, with the mixed selection being our favourite for £18.

Habaneros
Habaneros is dedicated to offering one of the best experiences for Mexican food in the city. Visitors are encouraged to text their orders to the van to ensure that they get their food as soon as they arrive. It is open between 11:30 am and 3:00 PM every day Monday to Friday. However, on Saturday customers should check out their Facebook page to see where they are. For those that are overwhelmed when it comes to ordering Mexican food, there is an experience unlike anything else.
The first step is to select your dish, whether it be nachos, tacos, burrito bowls or a burrito. Next, the fillings must be selected before then adding your topping. Customers must then select their salsa, with a range of spices available. For those that love spice, the Super Hot Habanero XXX is a must. Habaneros ensures a perfect meal, especially for those that work in the city on their lunch break.

Tortilla
Tortilla is a perfect location for all Mexican lovers to get their favourite meal, but especially those that have just arrived in the city since it can be located in Grand Central. The best day of the week to visit is on Thursday, as visitors can get a £1 taco after 3 pm. Our personal favourite meal of choice from Tortilla is the burrito, which is the signature dish.
A medium burrito costs £6, but we would definitely recommend that visitors go for the large and pay the extra £1. Taco lovers will be able to take advantage of the excellent options throughout the week as well as Thursday, as the Tres Tacos are always divine. There is also a bowl burrito option for those that aren’t willing to run the risk of getting messy, which is also an excellent option.

Las Iguanas
There aren’t many more renowned Mexican restaurants in the United Kingdom than Las Iguanas. It is often the calling place for all visitors looking to get their Mexican fix, and that is no different in Birmingham. There are four locations scattered around the city, but our personal favourite can be found at Resorts World. The menu for all four restaurants is the same, and there are a number of specials that can be found.
The most obvious that all customers can expect to take advantage of is the two for one cocktails, which is on offer every day, throughout business hours. When it comes down to what to eat, there are so many excellent choices. The burritos and veggie enchiladas are both excellent choices. However, we would never venture further than the chicken enchilada, which is a favourite for all visitors at the restaurant. The refried beans are a good enough reason to keep going back.

Casa De Burrito
While we have mentioned a lot of restaurants that are excellent for dining options, there is a very prominent name that we need to mention for those looking to take Mexican food home with them. Casa De Burrito is the standout delivery option available to those around Birmingham, with a wide range of options available throughout the menu. Customers can either get their food delivered or collect from the restaurant.
Once again, the burrito is the preferred choice from this restaurant, as diners can select exactly what they want on their meal. The meat selections are excellent, as customers can select from jackfruit, chicken, beef and carnitas. For those that don’t want a full Mexican experience, lasagnas and burgers can also be found on the menu. However, why would you ever look past the Mexican dishes with the wide range of options available?
