Our Experience
Our waitress during our visit was Ruby, she was friendly, professional, and overall amazing throughout our time at Vietnamese Street Kitchen. When being seated we was asked if we had any preference of where, which led us to be seated in their upstairs area, with the sun shining on us, with a lovely view of Birmingham. When seated we was asked if there were any dietary requirements to which we were given a whole menu full of veggie and vegan options. Ruby continuously checked upon us during out visit and made sure we were enjoying our food and always had a drink in hand.
The Restaurant
Inside the restaurant the interior is just breathtaking, it was filled with bright colours, and the attention to detail was phenomenal. Vibrant mismatch-coloured chairs, hanging greenery, and floral designs the interior has an uplifting feel that will truly transport you out of Birmingham and into Vietnam. The staff’s t-shirts were all different colours from red, yellow, and blue, they really matched the vibe of the restaurant. Lots of colourful paper lanterns and umbrellas hang from the ceiling and fill the rooms with character and personality.
Vietnamese also have a wonderful outdoor seating area which also features their colourful chairs and high-rise tables, great to grab a drink in the upcoming summer months.
2 for £14 Cocktails
For drinks we had to try their cocktails! Their cocktails are 2 for £14 and there are over 20 to choose from. As the sun was shining, we went for their Frozen Mango Daiquiri and Tropical Sunrise for a beautiful refreshing taste. The cocktails were fruity, fresh, and flavoursome, every sip was just delicious! The Mango Daiquiri can come frozen or not and is filled with mango and banana liqueur perfect to quench your thirst now the summer is here. The Tropical Sunrise has Malibu Rum, banana liqueur, and garnished with a piece a pineapple. The tropical taste will make your taste buds tingle with the delicious zesty flavours.
We already cannot wait to go back for another Mango Daiquiri!
The Vietnamese Food
For food we had to ask for Ruby’s recommendations to which she suggested the Com Suon. This dish came with grilled pork chops, jasmine rice, a fried egg, and their vegetable soup. This was a great plate of food filled with lots of different things to taste and try. The meat was tender, and the meal was plentiful.
We also ordered some of their street snacks. We got the Vegetable Spring Rolls, the Not-Chicken Steamed Bao Bun, and Salt & Pepper Crispy Tofu Bites. The restaurant recommends having 3-4 street snacks to equivalate to a main meal. The snacks gave us a chance to try lots of little things on their menu and discover what we like. All the snacks we ordered were vegetarian and tasted amazing. The Spring Rolls were the best we have tasted, crispy on the outside and packed with vegetables on the inside. Their Bao Bun had a tasty Non-chicken fillet and hoisin sauce all inside their soft, fluffy bun. Finally, the Tofu Bites were beautifully seasoned with crispy batter coating the tofu accompanied with more veggies.
We loved our trip to Vietnamese Street Kitchen, we can’t wait to come back!
