Albert’s Schloss is Back with Another Exciting Event: A Six-Week Bier Extravaganza!

‘Albert’s Top Six’ for summer kicked off last week, where for six weeks only, a different ‘bier of the week’ will be showcased, leading up to the Oktoberfest celebrations on 16th September 2023.

Oktoberfest is a celebration held in Munich, Bavaria, Germany every year. It began in 1810 in celebration of the marriage of the crown prince of Bavaria, who later became King Louis I, to Princess Therese von Sachsen-Hildburghausen. Since then, it has blossomed into a traditional folk festival, featuring an internationally celebrated beer festival (wherein over 7 million litres of beer are consumed annually).

Albert’s Schloss is ahead of the game, starting celebrations earlier in the summertime, and we’re delighted to see it.

With an existing glowing repertoire of biers, Albert’s Schloss is introducing a spektakulär new addition, Munich’s finest Hofbräu session lager. Launched from the 1st August, Hofbräu makes a perfect session beer at 3.3%. Refreshingly crisp and light bodied, it’s the perfect summer bier. Included in the summertime Après-Work event, which runs from 4 pm to 7 pm every Monday – Friday, you can enjoy a pint for just five pounds, with showcases of Birmingham’s finest performers beginning at the earlier time of 4:45 pm. Albert’s Schloss is well-known for its range of proper bier, and the ‘Albert’s Top Six’ event gives the Tapsters a chance to highlight their favourite biers each week. Across all three locations (Birmingham, Manchester and Liverpool), the tapsters make a pilgrimage to Plzeň, where they undertake five days of training at Pilsner HQ in the Plzeň Tapter Programme, teaching them to become the best in the business. We certainly trust in their taps!

Future weeks will involve different stars of the show from a wunderbar selection, including Pilsner Urquell, Erdinger Weissbrau, Stiegl Goldbrau, Fruli, and Paulaner Munich. With biers from Germany, Austria, the Czech Republic and beyond, there is something for everyone.

These featured biers will pair nicely with the Alpine-inspired dishes at the Cook Haus, all of which are inspired by the team’s travels across Europe. If you fancy further indulgence, the Pudding Klub offers a selection of lecker goodies, including the gorgeous Black Forest Brownie! (We sampled some of the menu here!)

The featured bier this week is Erdinger Weissbrau, an unfiltered and naturally cloudy 5.3% drink. Brewed strictly to the Reinheitsgebot Bavarian Purity Law, Erdinger is made with a minimum 50% wheat. Served in the tailor-made Erdinger glass, the bier is served in line with Jürgen Klopp’s warning: ‘Never skim an Erdinger!’ With a fine yeast clouding and fruity notes, Erdinger is a great bier for the slightly warmer weather we’re forecast to have this week (fingers crossed).
