Signs That The Success Of Peaky Blinders Will Continue For Years To Come

If you’ve lived in Birmingham for long enough, you will know that the success of Peaky Blinders will continue for years to come. The BBC hit drama has gained a cult-like following since airing for the first time on BBC Two in 2013.

The popularity of Peaky Blinders continues to go from strength to strength, and it now seems destined to be mentioned in the same breath as the very best dramas that have been aired not only in the UK but the world. But, what signs are there that the success of the Peaky Blinders will continue for years to come even after it does reach its conclusion in the future?

Peaky Blinders Video Game

There aren’t many television shows that have been the idea behind a video game, but in the summer of 2020 ‘Peaky Blinders: Mastermind’ was released. It was a welcome sight for fans to see that the success of the drama had finally been rewarded with the release of the game, and it focuses on the Shelby clan before we meet them at the start of season one.

The game picks up after the end to the First World War, and follows Tommy as he helps the gang out of a sinister threat that could have meant the end of the Peaky Blinders. All of the main characters are involved in the game, with Polly, Arthur and John involved. You can get a full review of the game at Fullsync.co.uk.

Peaky Blinders Festival

Again, there aren’t many shows that are that successful that they are able to sell out their own festival in the second city. But, Peaky Blinders did. Not only that, but there were some huge names in attendance to performance throughout the weekend, with Mike Skinner and Liam Gallagher involved.

The festival was also helped by the fact that a number of the actors from the series itself and Steven Knight were in attendance for the festival. Among the actors that were in attendance for the show were Paul Anderson, Sam Neil and Kate Phillips. The streets were packed with fans in 2019, and there is an expectancy that a follow-up festival will be planned as soon as it is safe to do so.

Impact On Life

The impact that the show has had on Birmingham can’t be understated, as there has been a huge rise in the number of people visiting the city. In 2018, it was revealed that there were 43 million visitors to the city, which was up 26% from the recorded number set in 2013. The popularity of the show has undoubtedly had an impact on people that want to visit the city, as they want to see the places that are mentioned.

As well as that, names like Arthur and Ada have increased in popularity, with Ada jumping into the top 100 names for the first time in over 100 years. The ONS believed that this was a direct response following the success of the Peaky Blinders.
