On weekends or during the week, going out in the evening or at night with friends is a great way to unwind. If you don’t know where your next holiday or city break destination is, here is a selection of 5 cities known for their nightlife, each with its own specificities. Yes, it’s not only in Birmingham where you can have a good time!

London: a wide range of options

As a dynamic, multicultural city full of young people, London has an exciting nightlife. The English capital has a great diversity of clubs and bars with live music, traditional English pubs, cinemas and theatres. London is also famous for its casinos: the city has three outstanding casinos (The Hippodrome Casino, The Empire Casino and the Palm Beach) where you can eat, play, have a drink and even watch a show. The advantage with this type of outing? You can extend the festivities when you get home with online casino games. In London, there are over 5,000 nightlife venues and there is something for everyone: those who want to dance until the morning and those who are looking for a quieter evening. Covent Garden, Piccadilly Circus, Trafalgar Square, Soho and Camden Town, are just some of the areas of London offering endless possibilities for fun.

Manchester: the city that never sleeps

Once an industrial hub, Manchester is now a city of design and culture. Its nightlife is vibrant and gay friendly. Former factories and abandoned warehouses are now home to the new clubs, pubs and trendy cafes that give the former industrial city a new look. Alongside the traditional cafes and pubs, the city has a wealth of nightclubs and clubs that stay open until dawn. The city has a strong predilection for live music and Manchester is a hotbed of rock, indie and alternative music.

Glasgow: the traditional

The pub tradition is alive and well in Glasgow. A visit to Scotland is not complete until you visit one of the many authentic traditional pubs. The city is full of old-fashioned bars, with wooden signs and loud music. For many Scots, it is common practice to meet up in the evening and have drinks in different pubs on the same night: the famous “Ramper Pub” ritual was probably born here. There are of course also nightclubs and concert halls in Glasgow.

Liverpool: the city of the Beatles

Liverpool’s nightlife has many faces: from superclubs to traditional pubs, from theatres on the waterfront to clubs in old warehouses and concept bars. The city is known for its musical tradition and the presence of many concert halls: it is not by accident that Liverpool is the home of the Beatles! It also has a strong theatrical tradition that has forged many important Shakespearean actors, famous throughout the world: notable theatres include the Everyman & Playhouse, the Royal Court, and the Empire. Finally, Liverpool vibrates to the rhythm of football, and on match nights the streets and pubs are very animated, just like in Manchester!

Blackpool: ideal for young people

This tourist town is known for its lively nightlife, a large number of entertainment centres and shops. The nightlife is mostly frequented by young people and holidaymakers who come to enjoy amusement arcades such as Impact Blackpool and Laser Quest Blackpool, as well as theme parks, bowling alleys and an ice rink that are open until late or sometimes even at night. For dancing and live music, the Funny Girls and Bierkelle are the best venues. The British tradition of stand-up comedy is alive and well in Blackppol: go to the Comedy Station Comedy Club or the Laugh Out Loud Comedy Club for a good laugh with friends.
