Birmingham City FC is one of the oldest English football clubs, being almost 150 years old. Throughout that near century and a half, there have been hundreds of goals scored by the Blues.
Some were relatively simple goals, with little impact. However, others were monumental for various reasons. There have been some unbelievable strikes that left the crowds at St Andrew’s breathless. There have been others that were incredibly important and resulted in big changes for the club, such as promotion or tournament success even though casinos such as kasyno online blik didn’t predict it.

1. Obafemi Martins – League Cup glory
Most people would list this goal as their top choice for the Blues. At the time, if you had free bets to use, with 89 minutes played, no one would have predicted or gambled that Obafemi Martins would have scored to secure Birmingham’s only professional silverware this century – the 2011 League Cup.
But he did. It came after a disastrous mix between Arsenal’s keeper and defender, which effectively allowed Obafemi to tap the ball into an empty goal. The crowd obviously went mental and Birmingham lifted the League Cup!
2. Darren Carter – penalty shootout coolness
In 2002, Birmingham had a pretty good season in the championship and secured a playoff place to potentially get back in topflight football after a 16-year absence.
The opponents were Norwich City. The game ended in extra time, with a late equalizer from Geoff Horsfield. Ultimately, it went to penalties and it was the young midfielder Darren Carter who struck the winning spot kick to send them to the EPL.
3. Geoff Horsfield – keeping the hope alive
Some would argue that this goal is more important than Carter’s but it is difficult to place them. While Carter would go on to score the winning penalty in the shootout, it was the Horse who scored to send the game into extra time in the first place!
4. Paul Caddis – relegation desperation
The 2014 season is not up there with Birmingham football records and it nearly saw the Blues going back to League One football. However, on the last game of the season, they needed at least a draw at Bolton to stave off relegation.
Things were looking bleak, with the Blues being 2-0 down. Žigić sparked the revival with a goal with just 12 minutes left. This left Paul Caddis to score a remarkable goal in the 93rd minute to clinch the draw and keep Birmingham in the championship for another year!
5. Craig Gardner – League Cup progression
Every Blues fan can remember Gardner’s goal against West Ham in 2011 in the League Cup semifinal. The first game saw the Hammers having a convincing 2-1 lead, but Birmingham would not be denied their first major tournament in 55 years.
Gardner aimed a low shot at Rob Green in extra time and after being denied by the goalkeeper twice already, this strike hit home and gave Birmingham the win.
6. Seb Larsson – a blistering strike
Larsson enjoyed a pretty good stint at Birmingham and this goal against Tottenham was a great one. The score was 2-2 and Birmingham were applying pressure after Robbie Keane had been sent off, after scoring twice.
It was injury time and not much hope was left to snag a win, but Seb had other ideas and smashed in an amazing strike in the top corner to give the Blues a 3-2 win.
7. Stern John – not much time left
While Birmingham was in the EPL, they enjoyed good success over neighboring rivals Villa. The match on February 22, 2004 looked to change this run, and the Blues were down 2-0.
However, a goal from Forssell gave them hope. Next up was Stern John, who managed to kick home a close shot after Villa’s goalkeeper failed to catch a shot from Clinton Morrison. Sure, it wasn’t a win, but the undefeated stretch remained intact!
8. Cameron Jerome – 30-yard belter
There are many more fantastic goals that Jerome scored during his time at Birmingham – he had amazing passing ability and could blast by defenders, but wasn’t well known for his long-range shooting prowess.
When playing against Liverpool in 2009, that would change. This was perhaps the best goal of his professional career. He let loose with an incredible 30-yard shot that soared clear over Liverpool’s goalkeeper Reina.
9. Seb Larsson – solo glory
Larsson gets another entry in this list and this time it was against Sheffield Wednesday in 2007. They weren’t 100% sure at the time, but the win against the Owls would mean that Birmingham were promoted to the EPL after Derby lost 2-0 the day after.
Seb got the ball at the halfway line and proceeded to demolish Wednesday’s defense before smacking the ball into the bottom corner of the net – perfection!
10. Nikola Žigić – another League Cup semifinal
As mentioned before, Aston Villa are the main regional rivals of the Blues, therefore, Nikola Žigić’ goal against them in the League Cup was extra special. It was the League Cup semifinal in 2010 and the score was tied at 1-1.
Larsson had scored earlier for Birmingham from the penalty spot, but Agbonlahor equalized not long after. The game was winding down and everyone thought it would go to a replay. However, Žigić scored from a Jerome cross to send Villa home!
