Birmingham’s Wildlife Conservation Park is based in the heart of the city, it is a wonderful place for a family day out now the sun is starting to shine. The park is special as it is home to some of the most unique animals in the world. From pandas, otters, wallabies, and many species of monkeys there is so much to enjoy.

Student admission tickets are only £5.80 for the entire day. This is a fun and affordable day out, not to mention an amazing chance to have a break from your studies. You will be able to get up close with animals, learn new facts, and watch them behave in the wild. Whether it is a date or a couple of uni friends getting together you are bound to have fun walking round finding your new favourite  animal. To make a day out of it bring along a picnic. There are plenty of grassy spots and benches to sit and enjoy lunch.

In the summer months starting in April the park will be open from 10 am until 5 pm. They do recommend pre-booking on their website but, you can turn up and pay on the day.

Wanting to treat yourself to good food without breaking the bank? Franco Manca offers delicious and freshly cooked pizza at astonishingly low prices.  

Their yummy sourdough pizzas start from only £6.50 each. Additionally, you can grab any pizza and soft drink for just £9.95 with a valid student ID. If this wasn’t enough, by downloading their app you can collect stamps with every visit, once you’ve got 6, you’ll get a free pizza. Their ingredients are sourced from local, small, and ethical suppliers making that taste even better. Aside from their pizzas they offer mouth watering starters from garlic bread to burrata. Not to forget dessert they have homemade tiramisu, sorbets, and cheesecakes.  

The restaurant is Vegan and Gluten free friendly meaning everyone can enjoy their tasty food. The pizzeria only accepts walk ins so there could be a short wait before you are seated. From Sunday-Thursday they open from 11:30 am until 10 pm and on Friday and Saturday they close at 11 pm.

National Sea Life Centre

Sea Life is home to some of the most amazing underwater creatures ever. From sharks, turtles, and rays you’ll be fascinated by what goes on in the water.  

This center is home to one of the only 360° tunnels where you can see animals swim above and below you. The tunnel makes you feel like you’re floating through water alongside some of your favourite  sea mammals. This experience allows you to see these amazing creatures up close and see how they behave in the water. During your time you’re guaranteed to see hundreds of unique and funky tropical fish including the clown-fish. Besides this Sea Life is also home to lots of penguins. Through a large window you can watch them waddle with their pals and dive into their large water home.  

Student admission is just £18 for the whole day. Its suggested you book online to guarantee your spot especially during the holidays. The center is open Monday-Friday 10 am to 6 pm, with Saturday being 9:30 am until 6 pm and Sundays from 10 am to 4:30 pm.
