Our NYC-Inspired Bottomless Brunch at Manahatta

0

Yesterday afternoon we visited Manahatta, the New York-inspired cocktail bar in Birmingham’s City Centre, to partake in their two-hour bottomless brunch!

The bar is very glamorous, with lots of cool and unusual light displays and colourful booths – very suited to a party venue.

We were greeted with a glass of prosecco on arrival and were seated in a large booth in the restaurant area of the bar. Our first drinks order was taken right away, and we opted for the ‘Summer Punch’ as a sweet-tasting beverage to begin the afternoon with.

Our food order was also taken very quickly – we went for the ‘You Had Me at Halloumi Bagel’, a vegetarian bagel packed with grilled halloumi, crispy onions, and sweet mango chutney, served with gem lettuce, tomato and house fries. The bagel was delicious, in proper New York fashion!

We also tried the ‘Cheesy on The Eyes’, a melted Monterey Jack and cheddar grilled cheese sandwich, which also contained basil pesto, sweet roasted peppers and spinach, served between two slices of toasted Italian sourdough with a slaw salad side.

Both of our meals were delicious, and something new we hadn’t tried on vegetarian menus before. The grilled cheese also has gluten-free options available, and the rest of the menu included a whole range of vegan, vegetarian, and meat-based dishes available for all dietary requirements.

If your idea of the perfect brunch is something a little sweeter, the ‘Lemon and Mascarpone Stack’ sounded yummy. Three buttermilk pancakes are smothered in whipped mascarpone, yuzu lemon syrup, raspberries and blueberries.

Grey Goose, Lemongrass and Lemonade

This would certainly have paired well with the summer punch cocktail, or our second drink of the afternoon, the ‘Grey Goose Strawberry and Lemongrass & Mixer’, which we had with lemonade.

This was another sweet cocktail, so it worked very well after the Summer Punch. We were very pleased with the Grey Goose vodka mixers but decided to switch it up and try something a little more bitter for our third and fourth drinks of the day.

We sampled a Bloody Mary and an Aperol Spritz next. The former was thick and slightly spicy, with a real savoury taste that made for a proper change!

Determined to sample a wide variety of drinks, we then tried the Aperol Spritz, comprised of prosecco, Aperol bitters and soda water. The Aperol Spritz was gorgeously orange and bittersweet and paired well with the prosecco we had been drinking all afternoon! Our brilliant server ensured our glasses were never empty and was always on hand to take our orders or top up our drinks.

Our favourite drink of the day was definitely the Summer Punch (and we certainly went back for seconds… and thirds!)

We didn’t get a chance to try the Orchard Apple Spritz, or the Grey Goose Watermelon and Basil & Mixer, or indeed the Pint of Coors, so there is plenty to look forward to on our next visit. The unlimited drinks menu also includes three non-alcoholic beverages, namely the Watermelon Baller, the Passion Fruit & Ginger Spritz, and an alcohol-free Prosecco.

Bottomless Brunch at Manahatta Temple Street costs £35.95 per person and runs from 12am-3pm every day, but if you’re looking for a later dining and drinks hour, fear not!

Manahatta also runs a ‘Bottomless Party’ from 3pm every day, for just £39.95 per person.

Featuring the same drinks menu, the Bottomless Party grants you access to any dish from the Mains Menu, including an ‘All-American Dog’, a 9-inch hot dog with Monterey Jack cheese, pickles, jalapeños, ketchup, French’s mustard mayo and house fries. For our veggie and vegan readers, you can swap to a vegan Moving Mountains hot dog with vegan cheese and vegan mustard mayo.

For an additional £4 supplement, the Steak Frites is on the menu. A Sliced 8-ounze runk steak, served pink, comes with fried onions, garlic mushrooms, Monterey Jack cheese and peppercorn sauce, served on house fries and sweet potato fries. It sounds like quite the feast! With ten dishes to choose from, there will be something for everyone, and gluten-free options are available to cater to all members of your Bottomless Party.

If the two hours just wasn’t enough, from Sunday-Friday, Manahatta offer 2-4-1 cocktails, all day long! The extensive cocktail menu is grouped into four sections: Manhattan (the perfect place to start for a taste of New York), Staten Island (for an inner-city getaway with slightly more exotic cocktails), Brooklyn (with the most popular classics Manahatta has to offer) and The Bronx (with unique cocktails to try out).

The 2-4-1 offer applies if you order two of the same drink, so grab your partner, your pals, or pop in for a post-work beverage with your colleagues. Manahatta is the perfect venue for a night out, with some of the best party tunes to soundtrack your evening.

There are large tables in more private dining spaces for group outings, televisions playing the music videos for every song, and even a photo booth downstairs to take some snaps to commemorate the evening! The bathrooms are also kitted out with photo opportunities, and the whole venue is very Instagrammable!

Manahatta is located on Temple Street, right in the heart of the City Centre. It is less than a two minute walk from Birmingham New Street Station to Temple Street, and an equally short walk from the Colmore Row bus stops. Manahatta is also very close to the tram lines, so it is the perfect commutable spot for a lunch outing or an evening on the town.

After two great meals, delicious drinks and perfect customer service, we’ll certainly be heading back to Manahatta in the near future to sample more of their menu. To check out the menus, click here, and for more information or to make a reservation, head to the Manahatta website.
