Now that the colder months are approaching its time to get those hot drinks in hand. We all love a good hot chocolate, and this guide will show you the best places to grab one right here in the city of Birmingham. Whether you like your hot chocolate topped with marshmallows or not these cafes will certainly provide you with your dreamy hot beverage whichever way you like it.

SOHO Coffee

SOHO Coffee is located right in the heart of Birmingham on the top floor of the Bullring. Opening back in 1999 SOHO has now become a popular chain of cafés that sell all kinds of delicious drinks and foods perfect to take away on your lunch break or enjoy in the comfort of their delightful shop. The café believes that only the best will do so they make all efforts to ensure that you enjoy what they provide and hope that you have a good experience.

The café has a wide range of hot beverages, but their hot chocolate has to be their very best. With a sweet and chocolatey taste, the drink will have your mouth watering with its divine taste. The hot drink is perfect for the winter months to warm yourself up and get yourself in the winter spirit. Further to this SOHO bought out some special seasonal hot chocolate flavours last year so look out to see if they bring out any this year!

Alongside their delicious drinks SOHO also offer some great bites to eat. Another one of the café morals is that food should brighten your day and their yummy menu definitely does that. They have breakfast and lunch food that you can eat in or takeaway. Some of their items include croissants and butties for breakfast and wraps and spuds for lunch.

Not only does the café serve up good tasting food and drinks but they also try their hardest to make conscious decisions involving our planet. Lots of their products are fairtrade certified, organic, and free range all in order to look after the planet.

Yorks Café

Just a stone throw away from New Street Station Yorks Café is a glorious place for hot drink on a chilly afternoon. This café was born in 2012 right here in Birmingham, since then they have grown massively to provide you some of the best hot drinks and food options in the city.

At Yorks they do hot chocolate the right way. Their menu has 3 flavours being white, milk, and dark hot chocolate which all just sound scrumptious. These can be enjoyed either inside their beautiful café or can be taken away if you’re on the go, whatever you chose you won’t regret picking up one of these hot beverages.

On top of their hot drinks the café has also been named one of the top brunch places in the country. Yorks is always looking to push the boundaries and one of the ways they do this is by experimenting with their menu to come up with new and delicious concepts which is probably why they won the brunch award. Some of these award worthy foods include Avocado & Feta Smash, Fried Chicken & French Toast, and a classic Yorks House Breakfast.

The café raves about their natural lighting and social space which makes it a great area to bring your laptop and get on with a little bit of work. Whether it be with friends or for a solo trip Yorks is a great environment to grab a cup of something delicious while focusing on work or studying.

Medicine Bakery

You may know Medicine for their yummy bakery and breakfast food however they are much more than this. Their Birmingham location is a café, kitchen, bakery, and a gallery which makes it a gorgeous and interesting place to dine in. Us brummies are lucky as there are 2 locations right here in the city one being in the Mailbox and the other one located on New Street, so wherever you are you won’t be far from one of their bakeries.

Hot chocolate wise Medicine does not disappoint. They offer classic and white hot chocolate alongside their entirely vegan option making it inclusive for all. Further to this for a small extra cost you can add whipped cream and marshmallows to whatever hot chocolate you chose which is an add on that’s hard to refuse.

Medicine also has some lovely brunch options that will pair beautifully with their hot chocolates. They have grilled cheese, French toast, classic benedict, and a full medicine breakfast. There’s lots of irresistible options that won’t just taste amazing but also look incredibly visually appealing.
