A Charity Beer Bash is Coming to Bacchus Bar!

The Bacchus Bar is back with an exciting beer festival this September, and we can’t wait to get involved.

On the 14th September 2023, from 4pm, the ‘Bacchus Beer Bash’ comes to Birmingham’s most unique bar. Some of the best breweries and distilleries have been invited to the venue for a chat, and to share some of their highest quality products with the bars’ patrons.

The Bacchus Bar is one of Birmingham’s oldest, originating in 1398. Nestled into the basement of the Burlington Arcade, right in the city centre, the bar has outlived many of its famous neighbours, including the Museum of Bazaar and the Theatre Royal. A constant fixture in the city centre, it has come to be a popular spot for drinkers and diners alike, particularly to round off the bustle of the working week.

The bar has historical themed rooms, with Greek and Roman mosaics, medieval archways and suits of armour, and Egyptian golden tomb paintings, all of which adorn an architecturally stunning building.

We visited the Bacchus Bar earlier this year for a meal and some drinks and were thoroughly impressed. You can check out our full review here.

If the idea of the beer festival in a restaurant named after the god of festivity and indulgence isn’t quite enticing enough, the event is run all in the name of charity!

For a small £5 (or more) donation, you can leave your name on the JustGiving page to reserve your ticket.

All of the proceeds from the ticket sales will go directly to Shelter, a charity that support those in housing emergencies, campaigning to end homelessness and defend the right to safe housing for all.

The work that Shelter does in Birmingham is hugely important. They provide legal advice on issues such as homelessness, notice seeking possession and unlawful evictions. They also provide advice on unsuitable offers of accommodation, temporary accommodation, severe disrepair issues, and unlawful harassment.

According to Shelter, 1 in 96 people in Birmingham are homeless, and therefore the work that the charity does is exceedingly important to the second city and is a brilliant cause for the Bacchus Beer Bash to be fundraising for.

Shelter members will be in attendance on the night, so the event is a great opportunity to hear more about their work. Also in attendance will be Purity, Birmingham Brewing Co, Adnams and many more, who will all be excited to share a brew with you. The event also promises live music, and has all the makings of a great night out.

The Bar has set a target of £500, and therefore needs a hundred donors (or a few very generous ones!) all of whom can bank on a ticket to the event. To check out their JustGiving page for more information, and to make a donation reserving your ticket for the night, click here.

A good cause, plenty of beer and an excuse for another trip to the Bacchus Bar? Count us in! We’ll see you there!
